High School Leos Host Hope on the Hill

Hope On The Hill

The High School Leo Club served soup, flipped toasted cheese sandwiches and more as they served  community members at the Hope on the Hill on November 5th at the Spring City United Methodist Church.

Community members are invited every Wednesday of each month for Hope on the Hill, a free community meal.  Everyone from the surrounding area are invited to join us for a time of food and fellowship.  The meal starts at 5PM in the Fellowship Hall which is located in the basement of our educational building, behind the main church building on Central Ave.

Coventry Lions Aids Coventry Food Pantry

Lion President Adam presents Coventry Pantry Director Ginny Wade with a check for $2500 to help keep the Pantry Food Supplies and Needs filled during the very busy upcoming Holiday Seasons. The Coventry Lions Club was visited by the Coventry Food Pantry's Directors Ginny Wade and Kathy Storti at the Lions Club Meeting on October 14th.

The directors shared the mission of the Coventry Food Bank with the club.  Read about the Coventry Food bank on their website and find out about their efforts on Facebook.

To aid the cause in helping to feed disadvantaged families in the Coventrys and other communities in the OJR School District, our club pledged $2500 to help fill the needs of the pantry.

The check was presented as part of the Make a Difference Day Activities in the School District.  Read more in the following article.

Make a Difference Day

Saturday, October 25th was to be the traditional Make a Difference Day at Owen J. Roberts School District; instead it was the last day of

Make a Difference Week as every school in the district participated in a week long food drive to replenish the shelves of the community's

local food bank.

Kira Rumpp, 7th grade teacher and Middle School Leo Advisor spearheaded the event for the district. In the end, a 72 passenger bus was loaded to nearly overflowing with the collected food and dry goods.

that little bit was 4000 steps...wow!
attached 2 pics of our exciting new vests, treasure/trash findings day...
1st pic:  zoomed in chopping a little of Prez Cathers off but still having supplies-mobile's hinny in pic.
2nd pic:   zoomed way out.
Called Highway Deparment Friday to report we were attacking Rt 100 Saturday morning.  Recalled Highway'rs to give # of bags & to make sure they did not forget from Friday's call to come collect bags this morning.
He asked how it went.  me: Well as can be.  No treasures this time.  Everyone made it back...we did not have to erase anyone's name off sign up sheet.

146 Lion Cubs Inducted into the OJR elementary schools

East Coventry Elementary Lion Cubs pose in front of their garden in the front of the school.

The Owen J. Roberts five elementary schools had 146 upper grade students  inducted into their school's Lion Cubs Sevrice Club.

Each club member was presented with a certificate of membership and t-shirt prior to being inducted. The five clubs had completed over twenty service projects during the year.
